HIGH WATER ENDED
High Stream Flow Advisory for Lower Fraser River Now Ended
June 1, 2018, 9:19 am
The High Streamflow Advisory for the Fraser River has now ended.
Please be advised that water levels are still high and residents are asked to continue to use caution around shorelines and to keep pets out of and away from fast-moving water.
The City of New Westminster will continue to monitor water levels and will provide updates to the community as necessary.

President’s Message:
While the high water has ended, the concern over high water is still active. We ask that you remain diligent around water.

Just to reiterate the letter posted on the left of this letter, you may want to find other parking arrangements for a time while we are experiencing this threat as underground parking in river side buildings may also take on water. I suggest checking on your parking areas at regular intervals. Also, as always, it is a good idea to be prepared (with food, water, medications etc.) to shelter in place for 72 hours or more.

Please be very careful on the esplanade! It may be best to stay off the wooden boardwalk at this time. Remember that the Fraser River has a strong current and to keep your pets, kids and yourselves out of the water.

Stay safe!
Vickie Turvey; QCB President

The QBS is the new revised, version of the Quayside Boardwalk Festival & Sale which took place every August for the past 10 years. Over the decade, the festival and sale attracted thousands of people to the Quay and helped keep massive amounts of ‘treasures’ from landfills.

After a decade of dedication to this event, our Festival chair James Crosty has stepped down to give others an opportunity to put their brand on this great event. Today, the event has been rebranded as the Quayside Boardwalk Sale and we are looking for volunteers to helps us put together this years event.

Date have yet to be set (traditionally it is held the 3rd Saturday of August. The QCB President Vickie Turvey is taking the helm this year as the QBS chair, and is actively looking for volunteers to assist in making the 2nd annual sale a great success.

“I am currently trying to find people who are interested in helping to coordinate and implement our Quayside Boardwalk Sale [QBS] this year. I would like to put together a small committee of people that would be willing to meet separately from the QCB meetings to discuss strategy for all aspects of the sale such as coordinating space and possibly table rentals for those who want them, and then getting the rentals put out in the morning and picked up in the afternoon after the sale.

This request for help is open to any Quayside resident with an interest in helping; project management experience would be a huge asset! I would like to meet on Wednesday evenings starting fairly soon on an as needed basis. Meeting frequency will be determined by the committee.

Anyone interested can email me at presidentqcb@gmail.com
